1. When you are in the position of the injured party
When you are involved in an accident outside Albania, in the position of the party injured by the accident, you must:
- Contact the Bureau of the country where the accident occurred immediately. The data on her address can be found on the back page of the green card policy that you have.
- To ask the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident to complete the Friendly Declaration of the event, (especially if the Traffic Police was not called to report the event). Make sure that in this statement you determine the fact of the fault of the party causing the accident.
- Get a copy of the insurance policy of the vehicle that caused the accident, where the period of validity of the policy and the foreign insurance company responsible for handling and indemnifying the case are clearly indicated.</ li>
- In the event that you are responsible for the accident, be sure to give the other driver a copy of your green card or insurance contract and contact your insurance company or the State Bureau where you are located, with in order to declare the accident that occurred.
- Make sure to note down the insurance coverage of the vehicle that caused the accident and ask the driver who caused the accident to fill out a statement and send it to the insurance company where he is insured. You must contact the insurance company where the causative vehicle was insured, to request full compensation for the damage.
- If possible, photograph the scene of the accident and the damage caused to the vehicles involved in the accident.
2. When you are in the position of the causative party
When you are involved in an accident outside the borders of Albania you must:
- Fill out the friendly statement on the circumstances of the event resulting from the accident that occurred.
- Responsibly complete the Declaration on the circumstances of the accident and do not accept responsibility for the accident, when you are not the cause of the accident.
- You hand over to the driver of the damaged vehicle, a copy of the valid green card you have.
- Contact the Insurance Company in Albania that issued the green card that you have, informing them about the accident that occurred, the responsibility of the parties in the accident and the circumstances of the damage caused.
3. Accident with uninsured driver.
- When an accident occurs and the vehicle that caused it does not have an insurance policy, immediately notify the Bureau of the country where the accident occurred and ask them for information on the procedure to follow.</li >
- Make sure to fill out the friendly incident report correctly and notify the police so that the incident is fully reported. Administer a copy of the police report kept on the incident, so that it can be submitted to the Bureau where the accident occurred, as in the latter the Compensation Fund will be activated, to compensate the damage you have suffered.
